Volgograd

What's a guide for?

Description:

"Why do I need a guide? I will look on the Internet! – a simple or advanced citizen will say and go on a trip to explore new territories. Undoubtedly, there is a place to be, because there are magnificent guidebooks, various maps with coordinates, photos and descriptions of places. There is only one funny “BUT”, and I will describe it on the example of Pavlov’s house in Volgograd (Stalingrad), which is known almost throughout the country. By typing a query in Yandex and clicking on the “pictures” tab, you get the first page of 18 photos, of which only 5!!!! photos of Pavlov’s house, the other 13 are completely different buildings (the ruins of Gerhard’s mill), with a completely different history, a different look, on the other side of the street, etc. That is, the correct answer is even less than in three cases!!! And this object is included in the history textbook! Enthusiastic voices from an infinite number of sites are inspired to talk about the place, showing not those photos! This is how mass misconceptions about a huge number of objects of historical, natural and cultural heritage are formed. Examples are enough: instead of nodules at Wet Olkhovka, people watch "Dinosaur Eggs", on the huge Alexander Graben, they just need to photograph one erosion brown wash, which is only 1% of the entire unique object. We meet with such illusions on the "Devil's playground" (Martian glade), "Rifova Cave" in the Donsky Park, "The Navel of the Earth" and others. I list objects only in the Volgograd region.

I think the guide is needed in order not to broadcast errors, illusions and ignorance, but to help guests understand, understand the history of the object, compare versions and see the present. With respect, Saveliev YES.
