Chamber Drama Theatre

Russia, Vologda, 5 Lenin Street.

About the company:

The Chamber Drama Theatre in Vologda is one of the most interesting educated modern theaters in Russia. It was created on September 1, 1999 by a group of professional actors. It was positioned as a non-governmental non-profit group.

The birth of the theater was associated with the departure of several actors from the state theater. Irina Dzhapakova, Yakov Rubin, Vsevolod Chubenko decided to organize their own, independent and unlike anything theater. For two years, the theater did not have a building, he had to rent a venue for performances, but it was at this time that performances were shown - "Woman in the Sands" based on the novel by Kobo Abe, "Our Father..." according to the prose of Varlam Shalamov, "Master" according to P. Bazhov, "Glass Menagerierierierie" by T. Williams and "Sacred Monsters" by J. Cocteau.

For a long time, the theater had to literally fight for its existence - to rehearse in random places, to put up with the loss of actors who left the theater. The Chamber Drama Theatre is on the verge of extinction. But 2008 becomes the year of a new birth for the theater - new actors come in, and in 2010 the theater finally gets a building for performances.
