A sightseeing tour of Vologda
Description:
We will see our wonderful city in its entirety: we will stroll through the historical center, look into the cozy living courtyards, find a carved palisade, imagine the Kremlin of Ivan the Terrible, destroy and rebuild a couple of legends and learn to “frame” professionally.
We also learn about people and life. Who contributed more to Vologda oil: Vereshchagin, the Germans or the railway? Why did Grozny need the Kremlin in the swamp, and the group "Pesnyary" palisade with carvings? How did peasants demonstrate status, merchants forged goods, seminarians married, and political exiles went to baths?
On this walk, I collected everything interesting: from zealous pre-revolutionary journalists to archival documents, from travelers’ memories to scientific research. This walk will be about Vologda as a phenomenon. And about history as a relevant, interesting and living science.
Everything is variable - I do not have a written text and a strict route - we will focus on wishes, interests, time. Hourly walks are possible. Eight hours is easy! By car or by two? Maybe on a bicycle? Or skiing down the river?
