Belozersk Tower of the Kirillo-Belozersk Monastery

Russia, Vologda region, Kirillov district, Kirillov city, Kirillo-Belozersky monastery

Description:

Belozerskaya Tower in the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery belongs to the later architectural structures - the New City. It was built in the sixties of the XVII century, it is assumed that it was 1667-1669. The tower was also called Lake and Merezhnaya.

Belozerskaya Tower has an octagonal shape, like all the other three towers of the New City. It looks beautiful and ceremonial. Went to the shore of Lake Siver. Of course, in those years, the most important thing in architectural construction was not beauty, but power, the ability of the building to stand for many years and withstand the siege of the attacking army. But, as can be seen from the towers of the New City, the masons still sought to somehow embellish their stone offspring, to give them notes of beauty and eternal.
