The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God at the Trade

Russia, Vologda, Trading Square 6.

Description:

The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God on the Trade - an Orthodox church in the city of Vologda, is an architectural monument of federal significance. The church was founded by Tsar Ivan the Terrible in honor of the beginning of the construction of the Vologda Kremlin. The existing stone church building was erected at a later time.

The building of the church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was built in the spirit of traditional architecture in 1760: a brick one-headed columnless four with a refectory and tent bell tower. Also, the church had the limits of Andrew the First-Called, the apostles Jason and Sosipatr and Adrian of Poshekhon.

Since 1820, the church was attributed to the Church of the Intercession on the Torg, served as a winter church of the parish. In 1929, the church was closed, it was dilapidated, the crowns of the church broke. I was busy with the archive for a while. The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was returned to believers in 1992, at the present time it is being repaired. It is not used for regular worship.
