Church of Rise Regulations from the village of Borodava

Russia, Vologda region, Kirillov district, Kirillov city

Description:

The Church of Rise Positions from the village of Borodav is a wooden church, currently located on the territory of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery. Previously, the church was located near the Ferapontov monastery of the village of Borodav. The land where the village stood belonged to the monastery. The church was built in 1485, is considered the oldest in Northern Russia. For the preservation of the church and for the creation of a single historical ensemble of the monastery, it was decided to transfer the church to the territory of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery in 1957.

The church is small, built in a cage architectural style. The simple and modest appearance of the church is somewhat reminiscent of an ordinary human habitation. Usually, such simple churches were built before the construction of a larger monastery began. Services in the church went almost until the fiftieth year of the XX century. In 2009, it was completely dismantled for full restoration. It is currently in the process of restoration.
