Russia, Vologda region, Kirillov district, Kirillov city, Kirillo-Belozersky monastery
Description:
The faceted tower of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery was built in the XVI century. It belongs to the Great Assumption Monastery, was part of eight towers that walked along the walls of the monastery. The entire tower has not survived to our time, we can only see a fragment of the structure. Once it closed the corner, which was on the northern part of the fence of the Assumption Monastery. The faceted tower bore several more names.
At the top of the tower was a clock, so it was often called the Clock Tower. Also, the Faceted Tower is attributed to the names Smolyanaya and Carpenter. The names, as the researchers suggest, were given due to the fact that the tower carried out the work of carpenters and resin for household needs.
