Kazan Tower with entrance gate
Russia, Vologda region, Kirillov district, Kirillov city, Kirillo-Belozersky monastery.
Description:
Kazan Tower of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery is one of the four towers of the latest part of the monastery ensemble - the New Town. The tower was built in 1659. Not far from the place where the tower was located, there was a church of the Kazan Mother of God. From him, the tower received its name, became known as Kazan.
The Kazan Tower, together with the entrance gate, is a carriageway tower. The decor is modest enough. In the XVII century, when the tower was built, it had a roof in the form of a tent at the top, later, at the turn of the XVIII-XIX centuries, a figure roof with a spire was built on the tower.
The tower is in good condition, but is still waiting for its reconstruction.
