Lake Kovga

Vytegorsky district, Vologda region

Description:

The parameters of the lake are very impressive. Its area is more than 60 square kilometers. The reservoir itself is very long. With a width of four kilometers, its length reaches almost 20 kilometers. From the satellite, the lake looks very much like a river.

As for the shape of the reservoir, somehow it so happened that it is divided into three parts. The northern part of the Kovzhsky Lake is connected by a duct with Kujozer, and the southern part passes into the Pavshinsky Lake. Moreover, these areas of the reservoir take their names from the lakes to which they join. The main place name remains the central area. Just there along the shores of the lake are three small villages - Kyabelevo, Ryumino and Yakshino. By the way, the R5 highway stretches through these settlements, along which cars and loaded trucks travel from Medvezhyegorsk to Vologda.
