Russian North National Park in Vologda
Vologda region, Kirillov, Siverskaya Street, 9/a
Description:
The Russian North National Park was established in 1992 in the Vologda region to preserve the amazing natural beauty of this lake region. On the territory of the park, between the low peaks of moraine hills, there are more than a hundred large and small lakes. The largest of them are the Siverskoye and Borodaevskoye lakes, as well as the Sheksninskoye reservoir created by human hands.
The park has not only environmental, but also historical and cultural significance. On the territory of the "Russian North" tourists can see ancient Russian monasteries: Kirillo-Belozersky, Ferrapontovsky and Goritsky Resurrection. The North-Dvina water system passing through the park, created by Russian engineers in the XVIII century, still operates.
Visitors to the park can use equipped parking in the beautiful forest Sokolsky Bor, located on the shore of the Sheksninsky reservoir. In the park you can spend time in nature, go fishing, go for mushrooms or berries, as well as visit one of the specially designed excursions, during which you will have the opportunity to observe the large mammals and birds inhabiting the park and get acquainted with the flora of the “Russian North”.
