Lake Megorsk
Vytegorsky district, Vologda region
Description:
The appearance of the Megorsk lake owes to Lake Onega. The water was formed on the site of the lake duct. The water accumulated for a long time until it amounted to an area of 40 square kilometers. At the same time, even three bays appeared - Kedrinsky, Chagozer and Kobylin.
With a width of the lake in almost six kilometers, its length reaches eight kilometers. The maximum depth is a little more than three meters. The bottom is covered with silt, sand or underwater plants. The lake is filled with natural precipitation, dozens of streams flowing from the plain, as well as from marsh drains. Because of the latter, the water in the reservoir is always cloudy. These are very good conditions for fish. In the lake there are pikes, nalima, yarshi, karashi, perch, perch. Sometimes the Baltic smelt swims, which smells like fresh cucumbers. It is best to eat it in dried form.
