Ovsyannikov Bridge
ooh Leningradskaya, 5, Vologda, Vologda region, Russia
Description:
The Ovsyannikov Bridge over the Pyatnitsky Ponds has an interesting history associated with the family of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II.
According to legend, in 1907, a stir arose on the bridge: everyone thought that a girl fell into the pond! When the city rushed to the scene, it turned out that nothing terrible happened, and not a little girl fell into the water, but only her doll. And this girl was Alexandra herself, the daughter of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II.
It is noteworthy that the girl, along with the nurse, was exiled to Vologda because the sovereign, in whose veins flowed German blood, and even unable to give the heir’s wife, was not very well paid by the people. Therefore, it was decided to settle Alexandra in a house located near these wonderful ponds.
