The poet is very popular in Vologda, as he lived here for many years. Here he died at the age of 35. Buried in the Poshekhonsky cemetery.
The monument to the poet Rubtsov is made of bronze and opened on June 26, 1998. The author of the monument is the Cherepovets sculptor A.M. Shebunin. The process of preparing and creating the monument stretched for almost ten years. After Shebunin won the competition for the project of the monument, he was entrusted with the final development of the project. The intended location of the monument was constantly changing. A new plastic solution was also seen.
Shebunin stopped at a bronze figure in full height on a high pedestal. Facial features, a coat with a half-raised collar, a scarf, a baggage bag in his hand - an image taken from life.
