Cook Tower of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery

Russia, Vologda region, Kirillov district, Kirillo-Belozersky monastery.

Description:

The cook tower belongs to the Great Assumption Monastery, which is part of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery in the Vologda region. As you know, the Assumption Monastery has always been richer and on its territory had many architectural buildings and outbuildings. The cook tower was built in the XVIII century. At the same time, the Bread Tower was built.

But something did not suit the construction of the Cook Tower, so it was literally dismantled in a short time. In 1761, the Cook Tower was built entirely from the base. It is possible that errors were found in the foundations of the old tower, which is why the reconstruction was so rapid.

The Cook Tower got its name from Povarni, which was next to it. The tower has survived to our days.
