Description:

The Vologda River is located in the Vologda region of Russia (the right tributary of Sukhona). On the bank of the river are the city of Vologda and the village of Milk. Vologda originates in a wooded area north-west of the eponymous city. The flow in the upper reaches is quite fast, the channel is winding. The general direction of the river is to the east. In the north-western suburbs of Vologda, the river receives its largest tributary - Toshnia.

After the city, the river overlooks a vast swampy lowland. The current practically disappears. Vologda is navigable from the confluence of Tosni.
