Tarnog Museum of Traditional Folk Culture

Vologda region, Tarnogsky district, Tarnogsky village, street. Soviet, 14

About the company:

The Tarnog Museum of Traditional Folk Culture was opened on October 10, 1970 in a 1927 building. Currently, there are more than 15,000 museum items.

The museum has a permanent exposition reflecting the life of the Koksheng region of the late XIX - early XX century and located in 3 halls.

The first hall “Circle of Life of the Northern Peasant” is built on a circular principle: from exhibits related to the birth of a person to exhibits related to rites and traditions of burial. A special color is created by photographs of the beginning of the XX century, which give a modern visitor an idea of how the residents of the Spasskaya parish of Totem county looked at the beginning of the XX century.

The second hall “Women’s Traditional Crafts” is represented by a unique embroidery of the Koksheng region, tools decorated with wood carvings. The third hall is “The main occupations of kokshars” (farming, flax breeding, crafts). The fourth hall is the department of nature (animal and plant world of the Tarnog district, traditional nature management).

The museum offers visitors sightseeing and thematic excursions, museum lessons and classes, creative workshops and animation programs. fat
