Divnogorje

Voronezh region., Liskinsky district, hut. Divnogorje

Description:

The reserve occupies more than a thousand hectares - these are the banks of the Don River and the Quiet Pine with unusual snow-white chalk rocks. The beauty of these places is amazing and unique – it is impossible to forget this sight. In summer, from afar, it seems that there is snow lying and shining under the sun. But it's not snow - it's chalk deposits that are several million years old. They form bizarre rocks, pillars and caves. The chalk pillars are called Divas. "Little Divas" are located near the sanatorium "Divnogorye", and next to the farm - "Big Divas". These pillars are mentioned since the XIV century – they were noticed by pilgrims on the way from the north to the holy places of Constantinople, they were written even in the annals. The largest chalk pillar reaches a height of eight meters.
