Monument to White Bim Black Ear
Revolution Avenue, square in front of the Voronezh Puppet Theater "Shut", Voronezh
Description:
There are small and modest monuments in the world that cause no less emotions than luxurious and pathetic monuments. They make passers-by stop and experience the joy of meeting. Monument to White Bim Black Ear, located in Voronezh, refers to such interesting sights.
On the birthday of the city, which falls in autumn, in 1998, this faithful dog appeared on the theater square. The sculpture of the Scottish Setter without any pedestal is installed in the city center near the puppet theater on the sidewalk.
Molded in metal, Beam, who has not yet found his master, sits right on the ground. You can approach him, stroke him, say something encouraging. Only the bronze figure cannot be moved. He is waiting for his master, who once and for all gave his dog heart.
The story “White Bim Black Ear” by Gabriel Nikolaevich Troepolsky was published in 1977. Later, the film of the same name was shot on it – critics called it the most humane film about human cruelty. The film received the Crystal Globe Award, was nominated for an Oscar, and the story was included in the school curriculum in literature.
At one time, Troepolsky’s book about the plight of a dog was a phenomenal success. That’s because Beam’s story has helped grow on love and compassion for generations.
