Russia, Voronezh, Central District
Description:
Victory Square is located in the central part of the city of Voronezh. The square is a memorial and park complex dedicated to the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War. The square was opened in 1975, on the thirtieth anniversary of the Victory.
The key composition of the square is the eternal flame, near which there is a monument symbolizing the entire Soviet people, united in battle with the enemy. The author of the sculptures was Fedor Kuzmich Sushkov. At the opposite end of the square is a stele, forty meters high, crowned with a sculptural image of the Order of the Patriotic War. On the memorial wall in stone are carved the names of the defenders of the city who gave their lives for the Motherland.
For each Victory Day, veterans gather here and those who came to honor the memory of those who fell defending their native land. During its existence, the square has become one of the main city attractions.
