Princess of Oldenburg Castle

Pgt. Ramon, Voronezh region, Russia

Description:

The castle of the Princess of Oldenburg was built in an estate donated by Alexander II to a relative - Princess Romanovskaya, by husband - Princess of Oldenburg. The Old English style castle was completed in 1887.

It was one of the exemplary palaces in Russia of that time, not only because of its unique architecture, but also because of its internal water supply with hot and cold water.

During the revolution, the princess had to flee to the United States, the castle was looted. During the Second World War, the Germans learned about the German roots of the owners of the castle and thanks to this it survived.

Since the 1970s, the rear is under reconstruction, but despite this, tours are constantly held there.
