About the company:

The house-museum of I.S. Nikitin is the only surviving building, once part of the complex of the inn of Savva Nikitin. This is a former apartment house of the Nikitin family. It was built in 1846 with the personal participation of the outstanding poet of the XIX century Ivan Savvich Nikitin. The museum was opened on October 4, 1924.

The territory of the manor of the museum is a small square with a granite monument to I.S. Nikitin (authors - A.S. Meshcheryakov and B.S. Shchedrin, 1964) and a modern reconstruction of a cart canopy, characteristic of cab yards of the XIX century with an installation of sledges, carts and objects of peasant and petty-bourgeois life. The House-Museum of Ivan Savvich Nikitin has been a structural unit of the Nikitin Museum since 1994.

The exposition of the museum tells about the life and creative path of the poet. Also, visitors will find a fascinating story about famous people of Russia, who together with I.S. Nikitin participated in the cultural life of Voronezh of the XIX century. This era is illustrated by paintings by Voronezh artists based on the works of Nikitin. In the halls of the house-museum there are authentic objects of the poet’s life, documents and photographs, lifetime and rare editions of I.S. Nikitin’s books. Various literary exhibitions are held here.
