Voronezh Regional Literary Museum named after I.S. Nikitin

Voronezh Regional Literary Museum named after I.S. Nikitin is a truly unique place, the purpose of which is to introduce the visitor to the world of literature and culture.

The history of the museum begins in the 20s of the XX century. Then the house-museum of I.S. Nikitin is opened, then the funds of the Voronezh Regional Literary Museum begin to form. The newly created museum was transferred materials related to the life and work of I. S. Nikitin, stored in the Voronezh Museum of Local Lore, where they, in turn, came from the Voronezh provincial museum. Later, in different years, the building of the Meshchansk administration was entrusted to the museum, the museum - the estate of D. Venevitinov, the museum - the apartment of M.N. Mordasova, the Tyurin house.

Over the years, the museum has become one of the largest repositories of manuscripts of literary works, autographs, collections of photographs and personal belongings of famous writers. The museum has more than 25,000 exhibits. In the structure of the museum funds, the I.S. Nikitin Foundation, the A.V. Koltsov Foundation, the D.V. Venevitinov Foundation, the I.A. Bunin Foundation, the A.I. Ertel Foundation, the A.P. Platonov Foundation, the N.A. Zadonsky Foundation, the Rare Book Fund, the Painting, Graphics and Sculpture Funds ... These priceless collections include not only memorial items, manuscripts, letters, rare printed publications, but also objects that are not memorial, but characterize the era.

In the XXI century, the literary museum becomes a scientific, cultural, educational and methodological center, an open pedagogical system built on the principles of museum pedagogy, a platform for communication of ideas. Historical and literary readings, spiritual conversations, folklore gatherings, prestigious events in the style of noble manor culture are held. Modern excursion programs and expositions of the museum are always popular.
