New Chigol Museum of Peasant Life

Voronezh region, Talovsky district, Novaya Chigla, Revolution Square, 14

About the company:

Novochigol National Museum of Local Lore was opened in 1967. Its origins were honored teacher of the RSFSR, honorary citizen of the Talovsk district historian and local historian Alexander Timofeevich Lukyanov (1915-1999), who for many years led the work of the museum.

Now the museum is located in a historical building - the house of merchant Bunin, built in 1882. The expositions, which present about 2,500 exhibits, tell about the history of the settlement of the village of Novaya Chigla and the surrounding territories, about the way of life of peasants of the XIX - early XX century, about the formation and development of the village in the Soviet period. In the ethnographic hall, you can use models of peasant huts, plowed fields, various tools of labor, including genuine old household items, to imagine how peasants lived in those ancient times.

The museum also presents expositions telling about the achievements of the collective farm system, education, culture. A separate hall is dedicated to the memory of natives of the village and the former Chigol district - defenders of the homeland during the Civil War, the Great Patriotic War, as well as participants in the war in Afghanistan. Here you can see photos, award documents, letters, soldiers' uniforms, ammunition.

In all expositions of the museum there are paintings, picturesque portraits related to the history of the region.
