The museum was opened in 1968 as a national museum of local lore, since 1972 - a branch of the republican museum of local lore, since 1994 - became a municipal one. It is located in a two-storey brick house built at the end of the XIX century. At the entrance to the museum there is a memorial plaque dedicated to the founder of the museum V.N. Stupishin. There are 5 exposition halls, in two (second floor) - permanent exhibitions "Wotkinsk - factory city, forge of culture" and "Lad", in the other two - changing exhibitions of fine and decorative and applied arts, temporary historical.
The Museum of History and Culture of Votkinsk is a traditional meeting place for Votkinsk creative intelligentsia. The museum has an exhibition hall where the works of artists of Votkinsk, Udmurtia, Russia and the world are exhibited, exhibitions of children's creativity, musical and literary evenings are held. The museum is located in the city center, among the buildings - architectural monuments of the end of XIX - beginning. Twentieth century. |
The two-storey brick rectangular building, built in eclectic forms at the end of the XIX century, has wide window openings on the first floor, framed by thin semi-circular casings. On the second floor, the windows are finished with kokoshniks. The crowning cornice of strong takeaway is supported by decorative brackets. |
