Khatanga Bay
Description:
Khatanga Bay or Khatanga Bay is part of the Laptev Sea, into which the Khatanga River flows. The length of the bay is more than 200 kilometers, and its greatest width is about 50 kilometers. In the bay is the island of Big Begichev, which divides it into two bays: Eastern and Northern. Kozhevnikov Bay is located in the western part of the Khatanga Bay. Most of the year the bay is covered with ice. The banks are mainly high and indented, under the influence of thermoabrasion there is a tendency to destroy the coastline. Part of the bay belongs to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, part to Yakutia.
Deer and fox fishing is practiced on the coast.
