About the company:

The Russian Academic Drama Theatre named after F. Volkov, or Volkovsky Theatre, is the first theater in Russia. In 2010, it celebrated its 260th anniversary. Its story begins with a leather barn, in which the young son of a merchant with his brothers and friends arranged performances. The first took place on July 10, 1750. Jean Razin's "Esfil" was staged. The theatre has a long and rich history. It was the only theater that fully corresponded to the title of the Russian Public Professional Theater.

Elizabeth II, hearing about the miracle theater, called its leader and troupe. They never returned to Yaroslavl, and continued to perform under the Empress. After that, the Volkovo Theater fell into decline. For a long time, its owners changed, until in 1882 the theater became a city theater.

Now it is one of the most popular and beloved places for leisure among tourists and citizens.
