Yaroslavl Zoo was opened recently - in 2008, as part of the preparation of the city for the celebration of its millennium. The zoo has 120 hectares of land, most of which have not yet been developed. When the construction is completed, the Yaroslavl Zoo will be the largest in Russia.
Today, the Yaroslavl Zoo contains more than 250 species of animals, the number of individuals exceeds 1,700. Of particular interest is the “contact area”, where visitors can get acquainted with pets and rare species of birds. For children, the Ark training center is open, allowing the youngest visitors to make friends with harmless animals.
