Kostroma + Plyos in one day
Description:
Kostroma is a historical city, stretched on the banks of the Volga. She is a sister of Moscow, although she is only five years younger. The brainchild of Yuri Dolgoruky on the Rostov-Suzdal land.
Pre-revolutionary provincial buildings, the largest shopping arcades in provincial Russia, cozy cafes, monuments of Susanin, Ostrovsky and Snegurochka, create the atmosphere of an ancient, noble, merchant city of the late 19th century.
Here you can recall the film “Cruel Romance”, take a picture in Ostrovsky’s gazebo and debarcader, to which, according to the film, the steamer “Swallow” moored.
Kostroma immediately fascinates its guests with coziness, soulfulness, leisurely and peaceful life, and it seems that this city has always been, but this is not so.
During the tour, we will talk about how Kostroma survived many invasions, and in 1613 it was here that the first of the Romanov dynasty, Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich, came to the throne. Recall the times when Kostroma was already part of the Moscow principality and not only the main trading artery of the country - Mother Volga - came out through it, but also these places were very profitable from the point of view of defense.
“Plyos is the most artistic city on the Volga” or “Russian Switzerland on the Central Russian Plain”.
Plyos, this city is a medicine that is shown to residents of large modern cities, which has therapeutic properties, eliminating the burden and bustle of urban life. It is worth seeing one day to want to come back!
You will know: About the times when Plyos was a Finno-Ugric settlement, then a fortress of the Moscow principality, a center of merchant trade, in Soviet times a health resort, and today it is a fashionable country corner and a place of pilgrimage for travelers.
You will feel the unique flavor of the provincial town, where residents regularly go from mountain to mountain, along cobblestone roads, and where there has never been public transport.
You will hear interesting stories about famous summer residents and get valuable practical recommendations: where to eat, what exhibitions to go and where to stay.
Ples is good in summer and winter, but of course especially in autumn, when the foliage acquires a sunny color.
You need to wear comfortable shoes - you will have an excursion with an ascent to the hill, from which the magnificent Volga landscape opens.
Ples glorified Levitan, and Levitan glorified Ples! This is an amazing place where in any weather you will be in peace of mind, admire the landscapes, listen to the silence and splash of waves.
Also, the tour is added by visiting (at the discretion of guests) the Levitan Museum or the Landscape Museum.
