Yaroslavl

Perekop

Description:

"Perekop" - a tour of the non-parade city, for lovers of industrial architecture and street art, for those who are not first in Yaroslavl. "Perekop" is the name of one of the oldest industrial districts of the city. It was here that Peter I (the house where the tsar stayed while he was alive!) founded the Zatrapeznovs’ canvas manufactory. In the 19th century, it became one of the largest paper spinning factories in Russia; the owners of the Yaroslavl Grand Manufactory built powerful production buildings and social facilities. Artist Konstantin Korovin was shocked by the scale of the factory town, noting that “with Karzinkin [one of the owners] in the factory, workers lived as in England do not live.” How and where they lived, worked and rested "factory" we will talk on the tour, the benefit of the architecture (shops, residential buildings, school, labaz, nursery ...) has been preserved enough to show the idea ... In addition to industrial architecture, we will see the invisible church of the 17th century (Nikolas in Melenki), a park with the most beautiful Peter and Paul temple (a rare example of Peter’s Baroque in Yaroslavl), a large-scale church of Andrei of Crete in the neo-Byzantine style of the early 20th century, the building of the first Soviet school in Yaroslavl and the school where Valentina Tereshkova studied. The walk is perfectly complemented by historical street art, archival documents and exclusive samples of local products of the 18th century.
