Yaroslavl

Yaroslavl City of Arts and Film

Description:

Yaroslavl is the first Russian city on the Volga, which is mentioned in the chronicles. The story of bygone years testifies to the existence of Yaroslavl already in 1071, and the legend of the foundation takes us to 1010, from where we begin the countdown of the history of our Yaroslavl. However, during its thousand-year journey, our land has accumulated a huge layer of cultural and creative heritage, which I suggest as your guide to show and tell. In this "non-format" excursion we will meet people who glorified the Yaroslavl land in arts and cinema in the past centuries, as well as our contemporaries.

We're going to run into names.

  • Alexandra Petrova - Oscar-winning Yaroslavl, who received a prize from the American Academy for her cartoon and founded her art school;
  • The name of Fyodor Volkov will tell us how Yaroslavl became the "Homeland of Russian Theatre" and why the Yaroslavl Volkovo Theatre, called by all theatergoers as the "First Russian" is still famous;
  • We will see the place where the famous opera singer-nightingale tenor Leonid Sobinov was born and lived, who headed and performed after 20 years the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow;
  • get acquainted with the creative nature of Nikolai Nekrasov, whom we rightfully call our Yaroslavl people, who wrote about our land and took images for their poems and poems from the banks of the Volga;
  • You will learn how in Yaroslavl land over the past 125 years since the time of the Lumière brothers, more than 300 films and TV series were shot. And why are we now called “Provincial Russian Hollywood,” where 10 to 30 films are made every year. And get acquainted with modern Yaroslavl actors. 2 Jewish boys from Rybinsk founded a hundred years ago 2 famous film studios, which are now known 20th Century Fox and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

And at the end of the tour we will visit the Yar Art Museum of the Yaroslavl region, which is located in the grand mansion of Governor Bezobrazov of the early 19th century. There we will meet with his wife, who will show us expositions with Russian art Korovin, Shishkin, Aivazovsky. And then there is the opportunity to visit the Governor’s Park with pre-revolutionary layout, roses and enjoy the aesthetics.

The tour includes the work of a guide along the route and an excursion to the museum spaces of the Yar Art Museum.
