ooh Kirova, 5, Yaroslavl, Yaroslavl region, Russia

Description:

The Church of Elijah the Prophet was built in the XVII century, which has survived to our times almost unchanged. It was erected at the behest of authoritative merchants of the Skripin brothers on the territory of their estate.

The church combines a coordinated ensemble of the main five-headed four, which has five bulbous domes of dark green color. Also on these chapters are placed large gilded crosses. The central one was forged from iron by the kowals of this city in the 17th century. Also nearby you can see two-tiered covered galleries which have two porches, an octagonal bell tower and a Rise-polozhensky chapel.

In 1920, the building was given the title of an architectural monument, after which it was transferred under the leadership of the Yaroslavl City Museum.

One of the main advantages of the Ilyinsky temple is its rich old interior. Here you can see ancient icons, frescoes, paintings, gilded iconostasis in the Baroque style, as well as other utensils for worship.

The Church of Elijah the Prophet is located in the city of Yaroslavl on Soviet Square, 7. If you go from another town, you can get there by car or train. The second option from Moscow will take you from 3 to 5 hours, depending on the type of train. Inside the city you can take a taxi or walk.
