Sreten temple
Russia, Yaroslavl, Deputy Lane, 4.
Description:
The Sretensky church is located in the Deputy Lane, which was previously also called Sretensky.
The church got its name in honor of the Orthodox holiday of the same name. It has two aisles: the first in the name of Panteleimon, and the second in honor of the icon of the Mother of God.
The first mention of the temple of the Meeting of the Lord dates back to 1636. It was wooden until 1685, until a stone building was erected on the money of Yaroslavl merchant Pavel Yakimov.
The ensemble of the church consisted of 18 bells of various sizes: from a ringing weight of 1 pood to a 357-pood evangelist.
Later, the temple was thoroughly rebuilt twice, now the original appearance has been restored.
In Soviet times, the church was closed and operated for various purposes until it was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1994.
