Center of Belarusian Culture. Museum of M. Bogdanovich
Yaroslavl region, Yaroslavl, Tchaikovsky St., 21
About the company:
It's a branch of the City History Museum. House built in 1908, one-storey, wooden with casings in Art Nouveau style - a typological urban building. From 1912 to 1914, the classic of Belarusian national literature Maxim Bogdanovich and his father, the famous scientist Adam Egorovich Bogdanovich, lived in the house. In this house, the poet prepared for publication the only lifetime collection of poems "Vyanok", which brought Maxim Bogdanovich the glory of the poet. This is the only surviving house that was rented by the Bogdanovich family in Yaroslavl. The city became a second homeland for the poet, here he lived 8 years of his life. In 1991, a Russian-Belarusian project was successfully implemented in Yaroslavl to create the Museum of the Classic of Belarusian Literature Maxim Adamovich Bogdanovich in the memorial house. The exhibition was opened in December 1992. Belarusian and Yaroslavl museum workers took part in the creation of the exposition. In 1995, the museum received the status of the Center of Belarusian Culture. The Center has a regional public organization of Russian-Belarusian friendship "Syabroustvo". The museum cooperates with the Literary Museum of M. Bogdanovich in Minsk. The exposition of the memorial house-museum of M. Bogdanovich consists of 3 halls. The first hall introduces the childhood and youth periods of the Belarusian poet. Partially restored fragments of the room of Maxim the Bookbiller with a memorial wall clock, a bookcase, as well as relics revered in the family - an icon of the Kazan Mother of God and a heliogravure "Sistine Madonna" (a gift from Maxim Gorky). The second hall is dedicated to the owners of the house - the Rzhevsky family. The third room tells about the Yaroslavl period of the poet’s life. In the hall of the museum there is a material about the historical ties between the Yaroslavl region and the regions of Belarus.
