Cugenery Historical and Local Lore Museum

The Museum of Local History opened its doors for visitors on November 7, 1990. At first it was located in one of the buildings of the former Kuzhenersky women's monastery. Since then, the museum has been a center for the preservation, study and promotion of the historical and spiritual heritage of the Kuzhenersky district.

Currently, there are 6,951 objects in the funds, there are several expositions: “Peasant life of the late XIX – early XX century”, “Priceless placer of epochs”, “I call this land my homeland”, the Hall of Fame, as well as the working office of V.M. Regezh-Gorokhov – a famous Mari actor, poet, playwright, prose writer, translator. There is an exhibition hall where various thematic exhibitions are held every month.

Throughout the years of work, the museum is replenished with new exhibits, excursions, master classes, museum lessons are held, exhibitions and holidays are organized.
