Yuriev-Polish is located in the north of the Vladimir region (60 km from the city of Vladimir, 196 km to Moscow).
In 1152 the city was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky. By his order, an almost round detinets was built, surrounded by earthen ramparts up to 7 m high, with wooden walls.
