Cape Kryllon

Description:

We offer you an amazing jeep tour to Cape Krillon.

Cape Krillon is the southernmost point of the Krillon Peninsula and the entire Sakhalin Island. The name was given in honor of the French military commander Louis-Balbes de Crillon by the great French navigator Jean-François de La Perouse.

The cape is rich in sights, we will see a monument dedicated to the soldiers who died during the liberation of South Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands from Japanese militarists, we will see military equipment, a weather station and other attractions of that time. The main attraction of Cape Krillon is an ancient lighthouse. It is considered the second oldest on Sakhalin. It was built by thirty exiled prisoners. It took them only a month to build the necessary housing and eight-meter tower. To provide a signal in a strong fog, the lighthouse was equipped with special equipment. Simple oil lamps were replaced by the latest French light system.

Cape Krillon has always been considered the “Edge of the Earth”. In principle, it is, because behind it is only Japan, which by the way can be seen from the cape in clear weather. The wild, yet untouched nature of these places is simply fascinating. Sheer cliffs, waterfalls, sea breezes, amazing landscapes, it seems that you are in paradise.

Cape Krillon contains some mystery that goes back in the distant past, and reveals many interesting things to us!
