Lake Big Vavaiskoye is located in the Sakhalin region, in the Korsakov urban district, on the island of Sakhalin. Connected to Little Wawai Lake and Lake Busse. It is flowing, from it flows the Arakul River, nine rivers flow into it. It is a lagoon-type lake. The area of Great Wawai Lake is 44.1 square kilometers, the average depth is 4.2 meters, the largest is 8.4 meters.
In the northwestern and southwestern parts of the lake are bays. In the lake live such fish as carp, red pepper, sazan, taimen and others. In the vicinity of the lake there are lizards, frogs, foxes, swans, ducks, geese, eagles.
