Sakhalin region, Russia

Description:

Chirinkotan is a small volcano island that is part of the Kuril Islands. It has an almost clear square shape with a length of each side of 3.7 kilometers. Chirincotan volcano is active and its upper cone smokes constantly.

There are no trees growing on Chirincotan Island. Occasionally there are alder bushes, grasses and mosses. The coast of the island is rocky, although there is a small pebble coast in the northwest. Chirincotan Island is very popular with birds. Here are real bird bazaars.

It is extremely difficult to moor to the island, and it is almost impossible to anchor. Only in the northwest can you land on the island-volcano Chirincotan in boats, but only in quiet weather. The landmark is the beautiful rock Gata height of 48 meters, which is located in the south-west of the island.
