Local History Museum of the Railway

New street, 18, microdistrict Railway, Balashikha

About the company:

For more than 30 years, the local history museum has been collecting and preserving the history of the city, which in 1989 was awarded the title of “people’s”. The beginning of the exposition was laid by the famous local historian Alexander Ivanovich Shusherov, who rightfully became its first director.

After the exhibition about the past and present of the city organized and held by him in 1957, Alexander Ivanovich worked in the archives for more than ten years, collecting documents about the history of the Obiralovka settlement and the construction of the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod railway. Shusherov’s enthusiasm and endless interest in the past of his native city helped him find invaluable materials and attract enthusiastic like-minded people to cooperation.

A room has been allocated in the residential area. Painful work began on the placement of exhibits and the design of two small halls, in which the sculptor V.T. Bogolyubov, artists P.P. and I.P. Prikhodko and V.I. Shenkel took part.

On August 3, 1970, the museum opened its doors, and its first visitors were able to get acquainted with materials about the history of the Obiralovka settlement and its transformation into the city of Railway.

From the day of the opening of the museum to the last days of his life, the Honorary Citizen of the city A.H. Lada actively participated in its work. A great contribution to the replenishment of materials on the history of the city and district V.P. Machuev, V.F. Okhotin, A.N. Slepnev, G.A. Shapkin, A.V. Chistyakov, guarded the city, local historian B.T. Chervyakov, who donated 750 books from his personal library to the museum, local historian and artist N.L. Artemyev.

The second birth of the museum can be considered a move in 1981 in the room on the street. New, equipped with the help of urban enterprises. In its bright spacious halls, four dioramas created by artists P.P. and I.P. Prikhodko appeared, including “Construction of the Railway” and “Air Defense of Moscow” near the railway station. The author V.K. Sudorozhenko designed a showcase telling about the archaeological past of our region and exhibiting the objects of excavations made on the shore of Lake Biserovsky. In 1994, Moscow and the Railway solemnly celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Kuchin Aerodynamic Institute, the first in Europe, created by the famous scientist D.P. Ryabushinsky (1882-1962). The descendants of the scientist donated materials from his archive to the museum, which allowed to place a permanent exhibition dedicated to the Ryabushinsky dynasty.
