Zheleznogorsk Historical and Art Museum named after M.K. Yangel

Zheleznogorsk Historical and Art Museum named after M.K. Yangel has been operating since the twenty-seventh of May one thousand nine hundred and seventy-seven. The team of the organization employs fifteen employees and five researchers. The collection of the museum includes more than forty thousand six hundred items, twenty-two thousand six hundred items of the collection are presented in the exposition and are included in the main funds of the museum. The only Russian memorial museum of academician M.K. Yangel was opened on May 27, 1980. The museum funds compiled documents, photographs and personal belongings of the academician, transferred by his wife I.V. Strazheva. At the same time, exhibits on local history, the history of the city and the district were collected - this allowed to open local history and historical expositions at the museum. The appearance of a Japanese sister city near Zheleznogorsk made it possible to open the Japanese Hall. Later, an art gallery opened, and to this day temporary exhibitions of fine art, decorative and applied creativity are held within its walls. In connection with the appearance of new exhibits, exposition themes, halls, the museum was called the Historical and Art Museum named after academician M.K. Yangel. A significant contribution to the development of the museum was and continues to be made by M.K. Yangel KB Yuzhnoye (Dnepropetrovsk). Thanks to the KB, the museum owns rare space-themed exhibits. In addition to exhibition activities, the museum implements various educational projects Zheleznogorsk Historical and Art Museum named after M.K. Yangel operates in the form of a non-profit institution of historical specialization, that is, it does not have as the main goal of its activities the extraction of profit and does not distribute the profit between participants. Zheleznogorsk Historical and Art Museum named after M.K. Yangel is an organization of municipal subordination. The museum is primarily engaged in cultural activities.
