About the company:
Stagecoach Post Station Museum operates in the form of a non-profit institution of historical specialization, that is, it does not have as the main purpose of its activity the extraction of profit and does not distribute the profit received among the participants.
This one-story small building was erected in 1875. It is located at the former eastern entrance to the city of Zheleznovodsk. It was here that there was a station for stagecoaches, which brought not only people, but also mail from other towns of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. Stagecoach is a large crew for the transportation of passengers, baggage and mail. It first appeared on the streets of England in the 16th century. Later they were replaced by omnibuses - these are horse carriages for many seats.
Visitors to the North Caucasian resorts, as well as permanent residents, throughout the 19th century experienced discomfort in passenger and postal services. Such a problem was partially solved only after establishing an omnibus connection between resort towns. Only the construction of the first railway in the North Caucasus changed the situation. The company that built the railway decided to build more convenient highways from Kumskaya station to the resort towns. At this station in 1875, visitors to the resorts first left the passenger staff. From there, stagecoaches transported them to resort towns.
When railway lines were laid between the resorts, the need for postal stations completely disappeared. However, light horse carriages continued to ply between the cities for a long time. Many vacationers chose them, not smoky locomotives. The only station of postal stagecoaches in Zheleznovodsk that survived in the Caucasian Mineral Waters was taken under state protection as a rare historical and architectural monument. The building stands at the highway, it leads to the resort village of Inozemtsevo. In the early 90s, the building was transferred to the Zheleznovodsk Museum. The courtyard and the station building were restored for a long time so that it had its original appearance. Now vacationers can easily be transported a century back, having made a walk in an ancient carriage.
