Samoa

Samoa (officially called the Independent State of Samoa) is an island state in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, occupying the western part of the archipelago of the same name.

Some facts about the country:

• It consists of two large islands of volcanic origin - Savaya and Upolu - and a number of small islands (Apolima, Manono, Namua, etc.).
• The population is 202,000. The vast majority are Samoans, the rest are immigrants from other islands of Oceania, Europeans, Chinese.
