Dakar Leopold Cedar Sengor Airport
Description:
Leopold Sedar Sengora Airport (LSS), located 18 kilometers from Dakar, one of the main international airports in West Africa, receives all types of aircraft on its two runways, serving the aircraft of 24 international airlines. In July 2000, agreements were reached on the division of flights between Air France and Delta. In January 2001, the Open Skies Agreement between the governments of Senegal and the United States laid the groundwork for the development of direct commercial flights between the two countries.
For 10 years, LSS has increased passenger traffic by 7% annually (1.2 million passengers and 35,000 flights in 2004, the eighth largest in Africa, after Johannesburg Airport and Maghreb Airports).
There are direct flights to Europe and North America, many flights to other African countries. However, LSS is no longer fully up to date and will be replaced by a new international airport in the coming years.
