Statehood Day of Serbia (Day of the First Serbian Uprising)
Description:
February 15 is the Statehood Day of Serbia.
At the Meeting of the Lord in 1804, at a meeting of the most prominent voivodes of Serbia in Orasac, the First Serbian uprising against the Turkish yoke was raised under the leadership of Karageorgi (Georgi Petrovich).
The uprising made life easier for Serbs and created a solid base for the so-called Second Serbian Uprising, although it did not return Serbia to state independence.
In the Republika Srpska as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this very event is celebrated - the Day of the First Serbian Uprising.
In addition, on the same day of 1835, the so-called Sretensk Constitution, written by Dimitri Davidovich, was adopted - the first democratic Constitution of Serbia, repealed soon after under pressure from the Porte, Austria and Russia.
