Subotica - Palic

A city in northern Serbia, in the autonomous province of Vojvodina. The second largest city of Vojvodina after Novi Sada. The city is located 11 km from the border with Hungary.

The first name of the city is Szabadka or Zabadka in 1391. year.

The town hall was built in 1908-1910 in the style of Hungarian Art Nouveau (Hungarian secession), according to the projects of Hungarian architects Marcel Komor and Deje Jakob. The facade of the town hall is decorated with ceramics, and the height of the tower is 76 meters. From the observation deck, which is located at an altitude of 45 m, a magnificent view of Subotica opens: Republic Square, fountains of blue and green color that surround the City Hall, the central square is Freedom Square, a monument to the controversial historical figure of King Jovan Nenad.

The building of the People's Theatre was built in 1854, in the style of neoclassicism. The theatre is famous for its six classical Corinthian columns.

Reichla Palace in the style of Hungarian Art Nouveau, built according to the designs of the Hungarian architect Ferenc Reichl in 1904.

Korzo is a pedestrian street of Subotica located between the Town Hall and the railway station.

Lake Palich: located 8 km from the city of Subotica. Its main symbol is the water tower, built in 1912 in the Art Nouveau style. The area of the lake is 4.6 km2, the average depth is 1.9 m, and the maximum depth is 3.5 m. The mud of the lake is rich in various mineral substances, and the mineral waters have a temperature of 25 degrees.

Every year an international film festival takes place in Palic.
