Holy Trinity Church
Description:
In the very center of Belgrade on the courtyard of the Moscow Patriarchate in 1924, the Holy Trinity Church was built at the expense of Russian emigrants.
At the entrance to the church on the left stands a marble slab, which is dedicated to one of the leading leaders of the White movement, Baron Lieutenant General Peter Nikolaevich Wrangel. He bequeathed to bury him in a fraternal Orthodox Slavic country. At that time, only Serbia was considered such a country.
In the Church of the Holy Trinity are kept Orthodox shrines. In 1933, Russian monks from Athos gave the church a silver relic with elements of the relics of many saints. The church also houses two ancient unique icons of the Mother of God, which were presented to the church by Russian families.
In 1999, during the NATO military operation against Yugoslavia, the temple was damaged by rocket fragments. The repair was carried out by the Belgrade authorities with the help of the Konstantinovsky International Charity Foundation.
After restoration, in 2007, the temple was consecrated by Metropolitan Kirill. The Prime Minister of Serbia called this event one of the most important in the life of the Serbian capital.
