Genex skyscraper
Bulevar Arsenija Č arnojević a, Beograd, Serbia
Description:
Genex Tower is one of the most beautiful and famous places in Serbia. The building is a 35-storey skyscraper, built in 1977 by architect Mikhailo Mitrović in a modernist style with a predominance of functional structures and linear forms.
The tower is a complex of two buildings connected by a two-storey bridge located on the last floors. At the very top of the tower is a revolving restaurant with panoramic views of the city.
The height of the building is 115 meters, and together with the restaurant - about 140 meters. The tower is the second tallest in Belgrade and the third tallest in Eastern Europe. The official name of the complex is Western City Gate. However, due to the fact that the Genex group of companies occupies one of the two towers, the entire complex was called the Genex Tower.
It is also known as the Western Gate of Belgrade. The fact is that the tower resembles a high-rise gate, which is clearly visible to those who arrived in the city from the west side.
Despite the minimalistic brutality of the shapes of the tower, some futuristic features are guessed in it. To a greater extent, this applies to a rotating round restaurant located at an altitude of 130 meters.
This unusual shape and style make the Genex Tower one of the most memorable high-rise buildings in Belgrade, Serbia and Eastern Europe.
