Description:

The Red Star Stadium is a Belgrade football stadium with a capacity of 51,538 people. Here hosts home matches of the same name Serbian football club.

The current modern stadium was built on the site of an old dilapidated arena, built in 1927. On December 27, 1959, the last match was played there, after which the stadium was destroyed.

The official opening of the new stadium took place on September 1, 1963. The first new lawn was experienced by the hosts during the game of the First League of Yugoslavia, in which they beat Rijeka with a score of 2: 1. That day, 55,000 spectators came to the game, who had to settle in the unfinished stands at the time.

The largest attendance was recorded during the derby against Partizan. The following year, the stadium's capacity increased to 110,000 spectators, but in the mid-90s, due to UEFA's requirement for the comfort and safety of spectators, it was equipped only with seating, which reduced the capacity to 51,538 people.
