Vrsac Castle

Vrsachki Zamak, Kula, Vrsac 26300, Serbia

Description:

Vrschats Castle is one of the most picturesque and popular attractions of the city, which appeared here in the XV century. The fortress rises on a hill, at an altitude of 399 meters above sea level, from where a stunning panorama of the city and the surrounding area opens.

The fortress was built after the fall of Smederevo by a Serbian despot in order to protect its lands in Vojvodina. The castle and its surroundings, fragments of ancient stone buildings, covered with vegetation, are a very picturesque picture. The towering fortress is built of granite rich in mica. Therefore, the castle sparkles in the sun, from afar attracting tourists with its view. Since 1991, the castle has been declared a cultural monument and is under state protection.
