Belgrade Museum of Natural History
Mali Kalemegdan 5, Belgrade 11000, Serbia
About the company:
The Natural History Museum is one of the oldest specialized historical institutions in Serbia. Such institutions are often called local history museums. The collection of exhibits of the museum is very extensive: it includes about 900,000 scientific documents, minerals, stones, tools of hunting and labor, which were used by the inhabitants of the Balkan Peninsula throughout its history.
The museum also has a library, founded in 1903, with over 20,000 books and other materials in its archives. However, the real decoration of the Belgrade Museum of Natural History is the paleontological collection, where you can see such rare finds as the skull of a prehistoric rhinoceros that lived in Serbia, the skeleton of a giant Irish moose, as well as the remains of a mammoth - these prehistoric animals also once lived here.
The Natural History Museum in Belgrade was founded on December 19, 1895, and has undergone several name changes. Originally called the Museum of the Serbian Land, in 1945 it was renamed the Museum of Natural History of the Serbian Land, and received its current name in 1958.
